An annual MOJA tradition, the Gospel Concert promises to be an afternoon of remarkable performances from talented local singers that will leave you feeling inspired and uplifted.

Charleston native Anthony Burke sang with the Chapel Choir at Tennessee State University and with the third U.S. Army Soldier show while on active duty.  He directs the Men’s Ensemble of Central Baptist Church and the Mu Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Ensemble.  Tony has many musical credits in the performances of many productions including Porgy and Bess both at home and abroad.

Reverend Randolph Miller is the pastor of Nichols Chapel AME Church.  He, along with the Edisto District Mass Choir, produced a CD entitled Lowcountry Gospel featuring, T’is The Old Ship Of Zion, the song he performed in the presence of President Barack Obama at the funeral services of Reverend Clementa Pinckney.  He is the proud talk show host of Bounce Around Charleston.

Javetta Palmer Campbell is a member of Christian Praise & Worship Center, the Reformed House of God under the pastoral leadership of her mother.  Minister Campbell has ministered in word and song at various churches and ministries throughout the Lowcountry, the United States and abroad.  She, along with her sisters, are members of the group Integrity.

Charleston native, Ashley Hale, known for her big voice, has been afforded many opportunities to sing in different arenas and has performed in stage plays like Bubbling Brown Sugar and Life 1&2.  Ashley travels overseas to Italy during the winter season on a Gospel tour with Michael Brown and F.O.C.U.S.

Johns Island native, Christal Brown Heyward, currently serves as Lead Psalmist of St. John’s Episcopal Chapel in Charleston.  Christal has been a musician for over 30 years.  She started singing in church at the age of 6.  Christal is a graduate of Southern Wesleyan University, Grand Canyon University, and is pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Worship Studies at Robert Webber Institute of Worship in Florida.

Elder Mario Desaussure is an anointed psalmist who began singing at the tender age of 3, in the Alpha Omega Reformed House of God Church, under the leadership of his great-grandfather, the late Bishop Aaron H. Moore, Sr.  He is currently a member of First Baptist Church on beautiful James Island, where he serves as the Director of music under the leadership of Rev. Charlie L. Murray, Jr.
